Aspect Ratios for YouTube, Reels & Instagram (Quick Guide)
Mytulify TeamUpdated July 11, 20261 min read

Wrong aspect ratios get your video letterboxed, your Reel cropped, or your feed post looking soft. Designers and creators search for these sizes every day — memorize the big four and you’re covered.
Platform cheat sheet
| Platform | Ratio | Common size |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube / landscape video | 16:9 | 1920×1080 |
| Reels / Shorts / TikTok | 9:16 | 1080×1920 |
| Instagram / Facebook square | 1:1 | 1080×1080 |
| Instagram portrait feed | 4:5 | 1080×1350 |
How to calculate any size
If you know width and height in pixels, simplify with the greatest common divisor. Example: 1920÷120 and 1080÷120 → 16:9.
Or open Mytulify’s Aspect Ratio Calculator, paste dimensions (or tap a preset), and copy the CSS aspect-ratio snippet for your site.
Workflow tip
- Pick the platform ratio first.
- Resize or crop the asset to match (Resize Image, Crop Image).
- Compress before upload so pages stay fast (Compress Image).
Get the ratio right once — every platform crop after that becomes muscle memory.
